Since 2007, our enterprise development project, the Emerge programme, has been supporting the success of small and medium-sized businesses in Chile.
Based upon our flourishing Zimele programme in South Africa, the project provides funding and investment, hands-on management and planning support to Chile’s latest generation of entrepreneurs.
To encourage development in some of the country’s poorest communities, we have also teamed up with Fondo Esperanza, a non-profit organisation that provides micro-credit for more than 50,000 businesses via a Nobel Prize-winning method of community banking.
Together, these programmes are giving entrepreneurs like Rebeca Briones, founder of a medicinal and ornamental plant business, the opportunity to turn their big plans into reality.
Better still, they are helping local communities shape their own future around the sweet sound of ideas.
