Think of music and the chances are your mind won’t immediately turn to copper. But, in fact, the relationship between the two runs much deeper than you might think.

Look inside any orchestra and you’ll find trumpets, horns and trombones that have been made using copper ever since the days of the Romans. Take in a jazz clarinet concert and you’ll see copper beneath the musician’s fingertips, quite literally key to the notes they play.
