Anglo Platinum advised shareholders in February this year that it had embarked on a Group- wide programme to increase efficiencies and reduce costs. The scope of the programme included all aspects of the business with special emphasis on work processes and structures. As a result of the programme’s progress to-date and Dorian Emmett, Chief Operating Officer, advising that he has accepted a position with Anglo American plc from 1 September 2004, the Company wishes to announce the following changes to its management structures.
The executive management structure of Anglo Platinum, under Ralph Havenstein, Chief Executive Officer, will include dedicated positions responsible for six primary areas of the business. These are finance and business development, human resources, mining operations, metallurgical processing operations, product marketing and sales, and engineering and project management. With immediate effect, Roeland van Kerckhoven, AbeThebyane, Robin Mills, Mike Halhead and Sandy Wood assume responsibility for the first five areas respectively. Until an appointment is made, the engineering and project management area will remain the responsibility of Robin Mills.
With regard to operations, mine managers, responsible for mining operations, will report directly to Robin Mills and managers, responsible for metallurgical processing, will report to Mike Halhead.
Dorian Emmett will remain a director until further notice and assist in facilitating the smooth implementation of the new structures. Management thanks Dorian, who joined the group in 1975 and has been an executive director since 1996, for the significant contribution he has made to the growth of Anglo Platinum and wishes him every success in his new position.
