Anglo Platinum results for year ended 31 December 2001

19 February, 2002

Anglo Platinum is pleased to announce record headline earnings of R8 billion, an increase of R1,22 billion or 18,0% over last year. Ordinary dividends per share are up 21,5% from 1 810 cents last year to 2 200 cents this year. In addition, the company has declared a special dividend of 500 cents per share.

Commenting on these excellent results, Executive Chairman Barry Davison referred to 2001 as a successful year for the company. "I am satisfied that operational and cost performance continues to improve and that our projects are on schedule."

Regarding the company's expansion plans, Barry Davison said: "As a result of our ongoing market research, we are satisfied that our plan to produce 3,5 million ounces per annum by 2006 remains entirely appropriate. It is also pleasing to note that demand for platinum grew by 5% in 2001. This was attributed mainly to growth in the demand for jewellery and autocatalysts."

By continuing with its strategy of developing the market and expanding its operations to take advantage of the growth so created, Anglo Platinum is ideally placed to continue to strengthen its position as the world's leading platinum producer.
