Amplats is pleased to announce that its headline earnings for the year ended 31 December 1999 have increased by an exceptional 82,7% - the fourth consecutive reporting period that earnings growth has exceeded 70%.
This sustained growth is indicative of the strength of the company and the continued positive fundamentals for platinum group metals.
Financial highlights show an increase in headline earnings from R1 411,8 million to R2 579,6 million. Cash holdings increased from R1 529,5 million at the end of December 1998 to R2 214,5 million. Dividends are up from 385 cents per share to 700 cents per share. Production highlights include refined ounces of platinum exceeding 2 million ounces and palladium exceeding 1 million ounces.
By continuing with its strategy of developing the market and expanding its operations to take advantage of the increased demand, Amplats is ideally placed to continue to strengthen its position as the world’s leading platinum producer.
