Amplats posted excellent results for the half year ending 30/06/99 and the company is pleased to announce that for the third consecutive reporting period, headline earnings improved by more than 70%.
Financial highlights show an increase in headline earnings from R706,6 million to R1 235,9 million. Cash holdings increased from R1 529,5 million at the end of December 1998 to R1 684,4 million. Dividends are up from 190 cents per share to 275 cents per share reflecting both the company's strong financial position and confidence in its future performance.
The prospects for growth in the PGM markets remains positive and this, combined with an anticipated reduction in platinum sales from Russian stocks, continue to provide expansion opportunities. Therefore, the fact that the mining expansions already announced are proceeding according to plan, positions the company favourably for the future.
