Amplats is pleased to announce that management and the Mouthpeace Workers Union (MPWU) have signed a substantive agreement on Wednesday, 1 September 1999.
The wage settlement is structured as follows :
An 8% increase on basic wages; a 3½% adjustment to bring the Union on par with the rest of the bargaining unit; 0.9% towards closing the gap between the Rustenburg and Northern Mines.
Furthermore, management and the union re-committed themselves to continue with discussions on the New Way of Working. The new way of working is part of an ongoing process of developing healthy relations between management and labour and is progressing according to expectations.
