Amplats (Anglo American Platinum Corporation) Management and Mouthpeace Workers' Union (MPWU) have concluded their annual substantive negotiations for the 1998/99 period.
The agreement, signed on 27 October 1998 by both parties in the interest of all affected employees, guarantees an 8 % increase, on existing wages, excluding a previously agreed 4% paid in 1997/98 for additional shifts worked.
Amplats has now finalised substantive negotiations with all Trade Unions and Associations that are recognised by the Company, except for National Union of Mineworkers (NUM). Amplats Management is however confident that an agreement will soon be reached with NUM to finalise the entire substantive negotiations process for the 1998/99 period.
