Anglo American Platinum trading statement for the twelve months ending 31 December 2018

13 December, 2018

Anglo American Platinum will release results for the twelve months ending 31 December 2018 (“the period”) on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange News Service (“SENS”) on 18 February 2019.

With reference to the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, companies are required to publish a trading statement as soon as they become reasonably certain that the financial results for the period to be reported on will differ by at least 20% from those of the previous corresponding reporting period.

Anglo American Platinum advises shareholders, with reasonable certainty, that due to an increase in the rand basket price and  improved operational delivery across the Company, headline earnings and headline earnings per share (“HEPS”) for the period will be at least 20% (R777 million or 297 cents per share) higher than that reported for the twelve months ended 31 December 2017 (“the comparative period”). Headline earnings and HEPS for the comparative period were R3,886 million and 1,482 cents respectively.

Basic earnings and basic earnings per share (“EPS”) will also be at least 20% (R302 million or 149 cents per share) higher than the comparative period. Basic earnings and EPS for the comparative period were R1,508 million and 741 cents respectively.

There is currently insufficient certainty to enable the Company to provide specific guidance on its expected results and it is anticipated that Anglo American Platinum will publish a further trading statement closer to the release of its annual financial results.

The forecast financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been reviewed, or reported on, by the Company’s external auditors.
